Homework Assignments1. On Fridays after lunch, students pick up their homework folder on their way into the classroom.
2. After read aloud time, I explain homework task for the weekend and remind students to have their parents sign their folder chart after it's completed. 3. Homework folders go home in backpacks on Fridays. 4. The following Monday, homework folders are turned in to the folder basket and I pass back the work throughout the week. |
Obtaining Help1. In order to ask a question, hold up one finger.
2. In order to tell a story, hold up two fingers. 3. In order to use the restroom, hold up three fingers. 4. In order to get a drink, hold up four fingers. 5. In order to sharpen a pencil, hold up the pencil. 6. For any other concern, hold up whole hand and wiggle fingers. *A poster which reminds students about hand signals will be posted on the wall in class. Sharpening Pencils1. First, students check to see if their hand sharpener is in their desk.
2. If they cannot sharpen the pencil with a hand sharpener, students raise their pencil and wait for my help. 3. In response to the hand signal, I will either point them to the hand sharpener on my desk or sharpen their pencil for them with the electric sharpener. |
Dismissal1. Ten minutes before dismissal, classroom cleanup will begin.
2. I will let the class know that if they have a job on the chore chart, now's the time to get it done. If not, the students are all trash monitors. 3. After the whole classroom is picked up, students will return to their tables and be dismissed by table group based upon behavior (i.e. a group who is ready to leave has things put away, quiet voices, and seated bodies). 4. Once dismissed, students will go to their lockers and then to the pick-up area. |
